Tri State Julys
Team Tri State is geared to raise fast, track driving, Speed & Drive Julys and outside running hounds that can catch their game. We will strive to raise athletic hounds that have desire, speed and nose. These hounds must be track hounds that are not consistently running roads in an effort to ambush crossings. Don't get us wrong, if our hounds are "out", we want them trying hard to get back in front. When they get back to the front, they must have the ability to run the game right. We will strive hard to produce hounds like this. If you like the kind of July hounds we have described, and are in need of the same, give us a call. Conversely, if you have this type of July hound and need to sell it, call. We will make arrangements to run with the hound. If it suits us, we will try to buy it. We are not kennel blind to anyone else's Julys and are always looking to improve.

Little Man
Tri State Julys is proud to introduce Little Man. Little Man just placed 4th at
Todd Sutton's Iron Dog, 8 hour hunt. Little Man finished very strong, running
hard against a predominantly Walker dog field of entries. After daylight Little
Man had a bunch of spots running the road by camp trying to get in the race.
If you are looking for a July hound to add some "tough" to your hounds, without
sacrificing front end speed, this could be you stud. Bring your best or borrow
your buddies brag dog and put Little Man to the test, here on the Ridge. He is
not retired! Pictured are Margaret Gordee and our granddaughter Skyylah showing
Little Man.
Little Man placed 16th derby amongst a field of 150 + @ the 2009 July National held in The Big Valley Pen. This was a hard hunt, in a rugged 640 acre terrain. There is no quit in this hound.
Little Man wins the 2009 Ginger's Ridge Night Hunt!
Little Man places fourth at the 2009 Run-N-EZ 8 hour iron dog hunt! He was stringing hounds and making them use the road coming by the casting area in the last two hours.
Little Man places 10th HGA AA & 8th S&D at the 2010 July National in the Big Valley!
Little Man places 4th in GTP All Age @ the 2011 Butler County held in the Big Valley!
The 2010 July National is now history. Tri State placed 5th & 10th Derby HGA and 6th, 8th, & 10th All Age HGA. These placings were by Gregit's Little Man, offspring of Little Man, Oak Ridge Ronnie, T.Q.'s Pockets, and Wig's Yellar T. We had 5 of the 12 All Age hounds that finished this grueling event from our kennels.
The 2011 trial season is underway for Tri State Julys! Please follow along below for updates on placings throughout the year.
Tri State Julys placed 7th in the younger class @ the Osman Pup hunt held in Carl Stevens pen. The 7th place winner was by Gregit's Little Man and a Yellar T. gyp. We feel this was a great accomplishment, considering the quality and quantity of pups entered. There were some high profile Walker and July kennels entered there that did not make the top 10. Congratulations to Jake Sullivan on winning!
Tri State Julys placed 9th @ the Run - N - EZ April pup hunt. Lots of game and good running. Congratulations to Howard Owen on winning 1st and 2nd!
Tri State Julys placed 4th and 10th AA @ the Wayne County 2 day held in the Big Valley pen. 4th place was a hound by T. Q.'s Pockets and a gyp littermate to Gordee's 'Ol Dan. 9th place was a hound by Gordee's 'Ol Dan and T.Q's Honey. Congratulations to WBT kennel on winning!
Tri State Julys placed 4th and 6th AA at the Butler County held @ the Big Valley. 4th was Gregit's Little Man and 6th was T.Q.'s Sista. Congratulations to WBT kennels on winning the AA!
Tri State Julys placed 2nd, 3rd, 8th & 9th @ the Run N EZ May pup hunt. These pups were by Gregit's Little Man, Kearbey's Sampson & Gordee's 'Ol Dan. Congratulations to B.J. McCune on winning!
Tri State Julys placed 9th in the AA @ the Lincoln County. This was held in the Big Valley. The hound was sired by Kearbey's Sampson. Congratulations to Tyler Wheeler on the win!
After a long summer of not attending any field trials, Team Tri State attended the September "anything born 2010" @ Bristle Ridge. We placed 1st, 3rd, 4th, 7th, & 9th. Gregit's Little Man sired 1st & 3rd. Gordee's 'Ol Dan sired 4th. Sampson sired 7th. T.Q.'s Pockets sired 9th.
Tri State Julys swept the 2011 National July field trial held in Olney, IL. They said we couldn't do it. Even heard Hoss bet $50.00 we could not win it. 195 hounds entered and three days of wall to wall running! My longtime friend, Tracy Queckboerner owned the 1st place Derby and 1st place All Age winners, T.Q.'s Twister and T.Q.'s Hershey. Rob Teunnisen owned Twister's littermate, Peanut. Peanut placed 9th in the derby and finished with a badly swollen foot, injured on day one. Peanut was not eating or drinking, but that did not stop her. Peanut was second high scored S&D on day one. She was outscored only by a hound later selling for thousands to Harland Stonecipher. That dog was scratched day two, while Peanut ran on thru injury and pain to finish and place. I'll take Peanut over high dollar any day of the week. The two Derby dogs were sired by Gordee's 'Ol Dan. The All Age winner was by Kearbey's Sampson. Hershey is one tough, track driving hound. Hershey led the scoring wire to wire and collected the day one AA calcutta winnings. Hershy was around 17 Months old at the time of the National. The 4th place AA hound is Skyylah's Barry. Barry was under 16 months old during the hunt. Barry is by Gregit's Little Man. Barry was high scored S&D AA hound day 3. He was seen many times leading the pack by 40-50 yards. It is not possible to wrap more desire into a hound than Barry has. I was criticized for turning someone else's hound loose, as I was focused on trying to get to Barry. Well that may be, but I am 63 years old and crippled and no one else was going to get Barry stopped for me. The pen was woods and standing corn with truck access to only about half of it. So if the reason you did not win the hunt was because I was focused on catching my granddaughter's hound, TOUGH SHIT. I have caught more than my share of other people's hounds in my day. Tri State wasn't supposed to win. I guess that is reserved for a chosen few. Well too bad, chosen few. We had the class of the field at Olney. Gordee's Peggy also placed in the all age. She too was "bringing it" day three. Peggy placed in the 2010 July National derby. I was approached by a judge there asking to buy her. Had a judge tell me after this years hunt that Peggy was doing a real job. Peggy is by Gregit's Little Man. This promises to be my last year field trialing. Good Luck to all at the 2012 National in the Big Valley. Some of you will need good luck to win or place there. The home field advantage is overwhelming. Hounds shown below are #601 - Barry #606 - Peggy # 611 - Hershey # 35 - Twister Smudged # - Peanut
